The prevalence of mental health issues among children is a pressing concern, with many cases going untreated and leading to long-term challenges. Teachers play a vital role in identifying and supporting children with mental health problems, but they often lack the necessary training and confidence. To address this gap, Research Informed Skills for Educators (R.I.S.E.) Mental Health Training program was developed, aimed at equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to intervene effectively. Community engagement and stakeholder interviews informed the development of the training, ensuring it met the needs and preferences of teachers. The training modules focused on depression, anxiety, and trauma, incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and empowerment theory. Additionally, a classroom-based curriculum, including short stories and coping skills worksheets, was designed to introduce students to mental health knowledge and coping strategies. The training's positive impact on teachers' knowledge and skills suggests its potential for wider implementation. Future plans include program redesign, the creation of a facilitator guide, consultation add-ons, and global outreach. This initiative serves as a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners interested in integrating mental health training into educational settings.
